Hub ESR & Vivian ESR End of Support

Hub ESR & Vivian ESR End of Support

Hub ESR Discontinued

I recently discontinued development of Hub ESR, this was because the project didn’t make much sense when Windows 10 isn’t as flawed as Windows 8.1 was when I first made it in 2014. Windows 8.1 didn’t have a Start menu or very intuitive ways to access your applications so Hub was made as a front-end for Windows to make it easier to access your applications and use Windows in a small sub-environment.

What comes after Hub ESR? Will there be another front-end?

I am working on a new project which will be called Hub 11, this will make Hub into a “Hub” for everything WindowsLogic and will be based on Gecko. There will be no further development of a front-end. Front-ends are so 2015, ya know?

Vivian ESR Discontinuation Date

Vivian ESR will be discontinued on the 14th July 2019. This means that there will be no new updates for installed copies of Vivian, all support will be ceased and the ability to download will be taken down from my website. Copies of Vivian ESR which have been installed before the end of support date will continue to operate but will contain a message that reads, “This application has reached end of support. There will be no more updates, bug fixes or optimisations made to this application and it is recommended that you find an alternative.” I recommend that you grab a copy of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to continue browsing if you used Vivian ESR as your main browser.

Will source code be available after discontinuation?

Short answer, no. I will not be releasing source code for Vivian ESR since it still contains many technologies which are still in use on my other applications. Making these technologies open source could stop future development of my other applications entirely.

Why are you discontinuing Vivian ESR?

I feel that there’s not really any point continuing to develop it since the Internet browser market is saturated. Other Internet browsers are much better than Vivian ESR and people would rather use what other companies offer and don’t want to use something made by a, “lonely programmer”.

I hope this cleared any concerns you may have had about the future of my ESR applications.

iPhone XS 256 GB in Gold

iPhone XS 256 GB in Gold

So, since the recent stealing of my iPhone SE (let’s not go into detail about that), I saved up enough money to get myself a new iPhone XS in gold with 256 GB capacity. Yes, it’s a ton of storage, yes I can probably fit all of my music on it, yes I know it’s a huge upgrade from the SE and yes I know it’s a £1149 phone, but it’s very good quality and I think the price is justified. “Why do you think the price is justified?”, look at the technology that has gone into it, the amount of sensors and cameras on the top and the ten total sapphire lenses on the back cameras, I’m surprised this phone doesn’t cost more honestly. What I’m not that impressed about is the OLED display, it doesn’t look as good as LCD and it seems like there’s a small checkerboard effect on the screen. I really don’t see why people are that fussed about OLED. The cameras are much better than the iPhone SE obviously, and the Face ID is more secure than Touch ID in most respects. The gestures are fluent and I had no trouble learning them, they feel natural and a joy to use. The build quality is on point for an Apple product and the X/XS with their glass backs feel like a callback to the Steve Jobs era of Apple. Overall, I’m very happy with my iPhone XS, even if the price for some people is a bit steep. All I have to say for that is, get a job and git gud, maybe you’ll be able to afford things then.

Thank you for reading this post, see you in the next one.

Long-Term Storage Of Fighting is Magic Builds

Long-Term Storage Of Fighting is Magic Builds

I’ve decided that I don’t want to host my older Fighting is Magic builds for download anymore since I want Fighting is Magic: Aurora to be the only available Fighting is Magic download on my website so people get the best experience than playing older builds which I didn’t work quite as hard on. All of these files will be going into long-term storage and will be off my systems completely and will be in a Microsoft datacentre somewhere since then I can never lose them.

That’s all for this update, thanks for reading.
