Why Is The Status Page Down?

Why Is The Status Page Down?

I thought I would let you all know why the status page is down at the moment. My friend who hosts the status page on his “server” recently encountered a problem with the Windows Terminal Services whereby it was not allowing Remote Desktop Connections to the computer. This was not helpful for anyone as I couldn’t edit my status page at all. This is why it continued to show that things were in maintenance when in fact they weren’t. The “server” has recently been reinstalled so all of the applications also need reinstalling which will take some time.

I just thought I would let you all know what’s happening with this situation, thanks for reading.

Coca-Cola Energy… It’s Okay…?

Coca-Cola Energy… It’s Okay…?

So, today I tried Coca-Cola Energy because it’s been advertised everywhere, especially in the city where I work and I decided to try it today since it was only £1 and I didn’t know when else I was going to actually try it because I’m an “illusive bastard”. The taste is quite interesting since it says on the can that it has that, “great coca-cola taste” when in fact it actually tastes like someone took regular Coca-Cola, mixed it with Red Bull then swished it around their mouth for five minutes and spat it out. Maybe I’m being picky, but I love the taste of regular Coke and utterly hate the tastes of Diet Coke and Coke Zero as it doesn’t taste like the actual thing; to me, that’s a rip off in it’s own right. Don’t cecum to advertising practices, as if it’s too good to be true, it probably is and Coca-Cola Energy is exactly that. If you want a great tasting energy drink where you get more for your money, get Relentless if you live in the UK, if you don’t then I can’t help you since I don’t know what energy drinks you have in your country and I can’t be bothered to look it up. Furthermore, at least it’s better than Red Bull taste-wise, yuck!

Thank you for reading, see you in the next post.

Fighting is Magic: Aurora For Windows XP & macOS

Fighting is Magic: Aurora For Windows XP & macOS

And… I’m Back!

It’s been a while since I made any news updates for anything, but this one is to do with Fighting is Magic: Aurora 1.0 support when it’s released since I want a wider audience to be able to play the game on their systems.

What’s The Plan?

The plan is quite simple, it involves ways to get Fighting is Magic: Aurora working on Windows XP (all service packs) and macOS through various means of either emulation or fudging.

How Will This Work On Windows XP?

For Windows XP, this is pretty simple. I shall be making a bare-bones version of the Fighting is Magic: Aurora launcher which will handle updates in a similar way to the launcher for Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and above. The Windows XP launcher will include all the functions of the main launcher except the ability to send feedback and get developer updates (when the game is released). I shall be making a YouTube video showing off this Windows XP-designed launcher and showing the differences between the regular launcher and this bare-bones one.

How Will This Work On macOS?

Wine. Wine is a tool used for running Windows applications on macOS or Linux if you use the Linux version. Technically this version for macOS will work on Linux if you’re into that sort of thing. Downsides of the macOS compatible Fighting is Magic: Aurora are that it will not have a launcher or any way to update the game and will be just be the game in an executable file while you run with Wine. WineBottler will be included in the package and there will be a tutorial for it on my YouTube channel when this version is released.

Will Updates On These Operating Systems Be Slower?

Sadly, yes. Updates for these operating systems will be slower than the regular release as they will be worked on after the regular version has been released. Updates for Windows XP and macOS will be anywhere from a day to a week later than the regular updates.

Will DLC Be Available On These Operating Systems?

Yes, of course. I would never limit users based on their operating system of choice and all updates, regardless of which operating system you’re on will get DLC updates. People on macOS will have to download the updates manually but the DLC will be included in the manual download.

Thank you for reading this blog post and I hope this has cleared some things up about the direction I’m heading in with Fighting is Magic: Aurora.

Scheduled Server Downtime

Scheduled Server Downtime

Servers will be undergoing maintenance on the 12th April 2019. All services will be down except for the status page (use that to see the status of the servers). During this time, you will not be able to download applications, update applications, access help documentation in my applications or access main websites. The downtime duration will be anywhere from 1 hour – 6 hours depending on if I can get everything done. If worst comes to worst, expect roughly a day to get everything back up.

Thank you for your understanding.

EU Article 11 & 13 Passed?! (Welcome to Orwell’s 1984!)

EU Article 11 & 13 Passed?! (Welcome to Orwell’s 1984!)

I’m going to start by saying that it’s a dark time for the Internet in the EU. The tl;dr of this post is that the Internet is dead and content creators are fucked.

So, today (as I’m writing this on the 26th March) the European Parliament passed article 11 and 13, these stop people from using copyrights fairly and introduce a link tax which means you cannot create anything which uses a copyrighted asset or link to anything that is external. All content creators on every platform are fucked if they live in the EU since they will not be able to use anything that has a copyrighted logo, trademark or anything to do with a company. Welcome to Orwell’s 1984, enjoy your stay.
