Scheduled Server Downtime

Scheduled Server Downtime

Servers will be undergoing maintenance on the 12th April 2019. All services will be down except for the status page (use that to see the status of the servers). During this time, you will not be able to download applications, update applications, access help documentation in my applications or access main websites. The downtime duration will be anywhere from 1 hour – 6 hours depending on if I can get everything done. If worst comes to worst, expect roughly a day to get everything back up.

Thank you for your understanding.

WordPress Protection

WordPress Protection

I know it’s been a long time coming, but we finally have SSL encryption on this news blog since a new plugin allowed it! I’m happy to note that this is no longer plagued with people stealing my IP address and either flooding the upload bandwidth or flooding my entire Internet connection (DoS attacks). What I’ve essentially done is made a condom for my news blog and it’s just another way we’re moving forward to protect your data and your connections to this site as well as our other ones. Since I have a dynamic IP address, that’s been easily changed and it is now hidden.

Thank you very much for reading, see you in the next post.

Long-Term Storage Of Fighting is Magic Builds

Long-Term Storage Of Fighting is Magic Builds

I’ve decided that I don’t want to host my older Fighting is Magic builds for download anymore since I want Fighting is Magic: Aurora to be the only available Fighting is Magic download on my website so people get the best experience than playing older builds which I didn’t work quite as hard on. All of these files will be going into long-term storage and will be off my systems completely and will be in a Microsoft datacentre somewhere since then I can never lose them.

That’s all for this update, thanks for reading.

60 FPS Content & Symphony 2.0

60 FPS Content & Symphony 2.0

Symphony 2.0

Symphony has been my network infrastructure since mid-2017 with the soul aim to get the maximum amount of data to and from computers on the network. When I first built Symphony with NETGEAR FS526T Ethernet switch boxes which had 24 ports of 100 Mbps connectors and only two gigabit connectors which meant only one computer could connect to gigabit. This was a big problem when transferring data from Atom to Behemoth or even data from Ultra to Atom. Symphony 2.0 is now better and more compact. What do we mean by compact? We mean the switch boxes are smaller but there are enough ports (8 ports) for all of the computers and servers on the network. The 8-port gigabit switch boxes we chose were the NETGEAR GS108 which are fan-less and cool running. This also means I don’t have to cope with a racket coming from the old switch boxes which did have fans. The main point is that I now get gigabit to all of our computers on the network and have the maximum speed to the Internet.

60 FPS Content

For a long time I’ve been stuck with 30 FPS content since my computer wasn’t powerful enough for rendering that level of frames. Now that I’ve updated the network to gigabit and my computers are a lot better than when I first started, I will be producing all new content in 60 FPS from now on. The main benefit of 60 FPS is smooth, buttery video which is very pleasing to your face eyes.

That’s all for this update, thanks for reading.

Summer 2018 Plans

Summer 2018 Plans

I’ve got some plans for my stuff over the summer and I’d love to share them with all of my readers. As many of you know, this year has been quite a bumpy year already with various hacking attempts on my servers and people trying to take my services down (most people who use our services on a regular basis didn’t like that as you would imagine). We did plan to keep the Fighting is Magic: Aurora April Fools build available until the 8th April but that’s when the hacking started so we had to sort that out instead, sorry for all of the people who wanted to try the build out but didn’t get a chance to. Anyway, onto the plans;

  1. I plan to release new updates and features for Fighting is Magic: Aurora, Hub and Vivian.
  2. I’m going to rework my servers to make our services even more accessible for people on slower Internet connections, this includes Remote Desktop Connections sessions on my Community VM.
  3. We’re going to make a new sub-domain for my service statuses so you can get an overview of what’s up, what’s being maintained and what’s down. This site will also serve as a place for quick updates on what the situation is with services or server issues.
  4. I’m going to be updating my Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and Software Agreement to make it more appealing to read while also giving you the information you need to know.
  5. I’m going to be making an actual website page for Fighting is Magic: Aurora as people are confused on where to go to download the game, that’s understandable and I see your concern. I’ll be working on this page and hope to get it up soon.

So, those are the plans for summer 2018, are you excited? I am excited to provide you with better services every single day and these plans are going to be amazing moving forward as they provide more clarity over everything we do and what we want for our users.

Thank you for reading this news and we hope to start providing you better services, starting late May 2018.
